Biomass Wood Pellets for Clean, Renewable Energy

Our earth’s fragile eco-system is under a threat as human activities deplete it in an enormous rate. The massive surge in industrialization, growing population and over consumption has resulted in huge consumption of precious resources like forests, water bodies, fertile soil and biodiversity. So, an alternative is very much needed that may not disturb but instead helps to recycle waste materials and provides fuel sustainably. This is only possible through efficient management of available resources.

A New and Sustainable Alternative for Clean Energy: Biomass Wood Pellets

Biomass wood pellets are an excellent alternative for clean energy. They are produced by compressing forest industry residues into pellets, and they become more energy dense. Raw materials like wood chips and sawdust do not produce high energy density as they store less energy in comparison to coal or diesel. As an important feature in power generation, wood pellets have a very low moisture content, giving them high combustion efficiency. This fuel is dense in the context of energy generation.

We at Ecostan biofuels are processing biomass: including wood shavings, plant residue from agriculture and forests to turn into important, renewable and environment friendly fuel. These are known as Briquettes and Pellets which are a great substitute for steam coal. Ecostan uses high-quality briquetting and pelletizing machines with close monitoring to ensure top quality Biomass Pellets that generates minimum ash residue.

How Are Biomass Pellets Made?

Biomass wood pellets are produced at a biomass plant. The wood that is not fit for other factories like sawmill residue are accumulated together. Then the sawdust is converted into fiber of an equal length by hammering at a hammering mill. At the next point, the strands are moistened with steam. After that, the fibers are forced through the holes with the help of a pallet machine to form pellets. The end product is cooled and vacuumed off to remove the loose dust by the vacuum machine. They are heated to reduce the moisture content and are compressed at a very high pressure to form solid, small and dense biomass pellets.

A Renewable Source of energy

These pellets work on a similar pattern to coal by transforming present coal power houses into renewable resources of energy. The pellets are crushed into fine powder by grinding mills and then they are burnt as a fuel in that station’s boiler to generate steam. That hot vapor then powers the generators to produce electricity. It can be stored as well as transported in large quantities with their uniform shape and density. It is mandatory to keep them dry while transportation and storage. These should be kept in controlled and monitored conditions to prevent unwanted incidents.
